I am more excited about the cap space. Originally I hated the Hartnell/bumburger deal (still do) but with some great picks and cap room looking forward to next year already. #flyers
Hey Aaron I haven't read Ian's piece yet but I can guess where it's going. It's the same place you have been traveling with us. You know the destination..just over the horizon, to the left when you look right and yonder over right when you glance left. Cathie rocks. Her call for the mindset first made me rethink how onboarding works. Do you plan for the pers
@jgmac1106 Though this must not be your #indieweb site as I do not see a mention to these comments back on your WordPress site. Also did you get in on the Indigenous Alpha test? Wonderful mobile solution,
@wiobyrne I am planning on doing the same. Currently I have been using @withKnown as my #indieweb engine. I was going to set up a two week WordPress experiment a la @ChisAldrich but then remembered it is finals week, I had to coach three baseball games and go to a communion. Didn't happen. Still if you want to do a user interview I am collecting interviews b
If any of these stories about Noble Charter School, bathroom breaks, and menstruation are true people belong in prison. What was done, if true, and I trust @npr vetting, is beyond civil. It is criminal. #edreform
@wiobyrne look at this post: http://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/04/30/i-am-more-excited-about-the-cap-space-originally-i It is using an #indieweb Firefox extension called OmniBear. Might be worth you investigating.
@wiobyrne Also remember Bridgy for Facebook is shutting down in August. Facebook is taking away access to their write API. Only way to share to facebook is use their social share buttons. You may not be able to shape your use of facebook in ways that also represent your philosophy. I deactivated. I did not quit. I know I have to turn it back on....grrrrrr...
@wiobyrne This is all going through @withknown. I haven't been posting natively to Twitter for some time. Syndication IMO works better using @withknown than WordPress IMO. Only reason I want to experiment with WordPress #indieweb is to get more post-kinds and build feeds for different post-kinds. I am still running Derybshire. I ned to update @withknown from
Yes and this is being sent from the Indigenous app to @withknown using Micropub, an #indieweb tech baked into the tools we use. If you have the plugins installed you should be able to POSSE to Twitter (not Facebook soon) but I think @chrisaldrich uses a plug in called SNAP and not bridgy, webmentions, and semantic linkback (all plug ins included in the indie
I have been telling anyone who listens that I think the future of ecommerce and small business web design the PoS systems included in credit card processing services will be combined with page builders. Square, Stripe and others will own small business web hosting in a few years.
@anildash @kevinmarks At same time I think we need to recognize the world wants an image driven web. While I agree html/css should be backbone of any social media service we need to create pathways to oboard people to the web through images and videos. I also think machine learning is going to make images and video more readable. So how could it work? How ca
@kevinmarks @anildash Ahhh SVG, we finally figured a way to turn those pesky images into code (joking I get the lightweight low resource benefits) I jest because I do believe the semantic focus you bring Kevin is part of the DNA of the web as people have had this debate since the first browser. In terms of the silos I am hoping web responsive apps do win out
@anildash @kevinmarks Especially tutorials and documentation. No matter the level documentation plus screen capture photos/gifs/video is almost always better than documentation alone. Extra true for beginners.
CT librarians serve on the front lines of the efforts to teach students to own their data. If you are already a WordPress blogger but want to learn more about taking control of the content you own by deciding where to share I encourage you to check out #indieweb. I am currently recruiting participants to do a "think aloud" as you install #indieweb WordPress
@cathieleblanc Thanks for the #indieweb WordPress user interview. Your experiences will help us better shape the onboarding process for new users. You can see a summary of our interview here. Feel free to change or ask me to change anything: https://indieweb.org/WordPress/Onboarding I look forward to following your work. If you want to see how others built m
@jonbecker I get the motives are nefarious but maybe we need to get to a place where public health research is open and corporations testing the safety of chemicals must make all of their data publicly available. #openscience
Also if there are #digped that do use #indieweb plug-ins in your WordPress I am also doing user story interviews. You can learn more here: https://indieweb.org/WordPress/Onboarding
@cathieleblanc What an amazing post and you give me way too much credit. I couldn't do it with out the great minds behind #indieweb. I am thinking more and more about the social web of academia and how we have a responsibility to protect the Commons and the open web. Since you just got started maybe you could help us out. I am trying to collect user stories
I don't trust Scott Pruitt, whole fox in the hen house, but can someone in #openscience explain why only accepting studies with publicly available data is a bad thing? Isn't that our goal open research and open data? Can't health data be anonymized and still shared openly?
