Couple thoughts:
-They are right doing this in two years would have been a disaster. Do the leg work first. Why does each CC and each State College have different General Ed requirements anyways? It is one system.
- NEASC is also biased. By accepting one community college instead of twelve they lose a ton of revenue in the state of Connecticut. Accreditation is a massive tax on higher ed.
- Interesting the comments around elimination of Department Chairs. Ojakian has been trying to limit the amount of shared governance. We have created a burdensome systems of bloated committees but eliminating department chairs wasn't a way to fix that. That was way to squeeze more credits out of faculty.
- Do we want to look at making CC satellite campuses of the Universities into which they feed? Can you chare two different tuitions, not sure.
-I wonder what campuses will close. Local politicians bring clout but 12 in a state this size seems crazy.
