Hanging with @GOIFoundation at our first Homebrew Website Club Accra
Yesterday Sadik, Zita, and Mohamed and I met for the first homebrew website in Accra, Ghana and also the first on the African continent.
For some weird reason I could not accept Skype calls on my mobile so I pulled my car over, we fired up Google Docs and I chatted that way as the other three met.
Together we want to help OER spread across Ghana.
We began by discussing the fun and challenges people were having with Known. So far the platform is works great. People want to learn how to connect their Twitter accounts. I promised a tutorial today.
The group then wanted to move full steam ahead in recruiting participants. We then stressed the importance of how we might want to slow down and use our new platforms first. This would help us develop tutorials and mentor texrts when it comes time to onboard new people.
Zita and I had the idea that maybe everyone should just spend the next two weeks learning something. Bookmark resources as you go, publish status updates as you reflect or have thoughts during the process and then publish a post to summarize your learning.
So we will meet again in two weeks for the next homebrew website club and check out what everyone learned.
