Instructional design tip: Always identify key vocabulary in each module. More for you than the learner. You must remember to present this is multiple modalities and look for evidence in use by students across modes. #edu106 #literacies #DigPed
Redoing #edu106 for this semester. Began first by surveying students. Broken into four elements: tell your story, learn something, teach something, do something. There will be five tech tracks: web literacy, photo, audio, video, and data science. Web literacy will span the course but foljs will get two week primer on other tracks and then choose one for thie
Follow the #edu106 hashtag from now until Wednesday as I will be live blogging my instructional design..BTW instructional design is fancy pants way of saying writing lesson plans. #DigPed #CLMOOC #ccourses #connectedlearning

As part of my redesign of #edu106 I started by surveying the students. I want to design the class around their desire and needs. I first started asking about the technology they use. Instagram is still the most popular. Nobody used facebook anymore. Students have Twitter accounts but say they are more for reading, following celebrities or asking about custom
@cswordpress Yes I quickly learned this last year working to teach a student who is blind to code for the first time. My normal tools didn't work. @glitch isn't accessible, with your help and talking to others just started with blank text editor. That worked.
Finished and submitted the #QuestionTheWeb IES Developmental grant. This was a resubmission and I am hoping we used the reviewers guidance to strengthen the proposal http://jgmac1106.me/qtw Will add a Table of Contents tomorrow #literacies
@BenPatrickWill Jockeys also hit horses with whips to make them go faster. Results do not make that right either. Want students to pay attention, use better teaching. https://twitter.com/BenPatrickWill/status/1167358886397038597 #digped
@BryanAlexander @baha_mali How are we defining AI? Do we mean machine learning models that spot patterns or correlate metadata? Machine models that change based on patterns, correlations, or regression? First exists, latter not so much.
I stress diverse texts in my #edu307Fall19 class but I do a quick scan of books I have bought my own children over ten years and I find fewer than I can count on a hand. #literacies #IamTheProblem #JustSayin
I don't fear the smart tutors and machine learning models, let tools good at gathering low hanging fruit do it so I can concentrate on thinking about entire environment affecting the trees. I do fear the exploitation as hype chases data.
@cswordpress I get all the webmentions but yes I got the @ mention on Twitter too. Glad to hear that @withknown meets most accessibility (beyond the minor photo title as both syndicated content, as alt text). Never thought about all the other tools involved.
@cswordpress oooh thank you so much, not sure we have had even the most of informal reviews of accessibility. I know for example the photo post types in @withknown need basic support. I stopped posting photo post types as much as I can until fixed
@cswordpress @Cambridgeport90 might make for a great keynote topic #justsayin also huge h/t to @pferrele for all their work in ensuring WP #IndieWeb themes can me the highest #a11y standards possible on the CMS
