@actualham @cathieleblanc can both join me for Homebrew Website Club #nhv 1/23 5:30 est, just made migration from WordPress to Known. I just wanted a website that not only worked but also worked well and with #IndieWeb, hard to do with WordPress
What we see on @foxnews and @huffpost happens because we never taught these lessons and we only offer people prescriptive tools....plus media companies built their financial models on hate. The people they identify as leaders must visit often. I am sure the comment plugins suck up lots of data
Teaching with #knownchat was great. This summer using webmentions and post types on WordPress improved my classes. I wish I could use Known in my intro classes but I can't start any class with, "Well go to the repo, download the latest build, fire up FTP...."
especially if you archive rather than import your WordPress site, migrativ is on my list waaayy down the road. Check out what https://cleverdevil.io does, your photcentric approach would be much easier with #knownchat than WordPress
@actualham is there anyway to report 404s to internal pages on @hybridped? Run into so many deadlinks. For external sites you should really make an archive copy using archive.org and link to that. Those 404s can't be fixed now.
I wonder if we could pool our resources, use or budgets, or look for other grants #ctcasl. The cost per user/student would be $30 a year, we could pool our resources to bring in @cogdog as online coach. Scales easily. I could do on the ground events.
I get that having a website, the time, treasure and talent, of #IndieWeb reflects privilege and I do agree "scratch your own itch" while most proven approach to the resilient web, is rooted in the values of a Western male dominated culture .
@actualham @cathieleblanc virtual HWC-Europe that lines up with midday on East Coast could find help there, but yes direction of WordPress isn't good Not so much tech and React over PHP more the governance model of watching automattic control everything
🍅 on ReVIEW Talent Feedback System. Getting ready for our SSO and LTI so @blackboard @frontlineedu @CanvasLMS @talentEdk12 @peopleadmin can offer customers our research based method to improve instruction by focusing on the feedback teachers receive
@cathieleblanc @actualham...oops I typed MA, had Plymouth, NH in Google Maps open. I love that part of the state. Don't have connections but if you launch I will do my best to land a gig somewhere to try and get up there.
Go Sportsball! Important education dollars at work. Though I do agree cultural investments like the arts and sports are important for a shared identity. But wow, that is expensive. This would be so much better invested in #BringBackTheWhale. I mean if we are investing $42 million dollars for sports for "play an important role in the life of the university an
This is why I so believe in the local web over the decentralized web @petermolnar, anonymizing and encrypting data awesome...now people can be extra hard to find jerks, we need to build community, to improve the world focus on your self and then move outward.
Also think the kinds of comments we see on @foxnews and @huffpost reflect our bias toward argumentation. Why in Western society did we decide argument reflects the highest form of discourse? Problem with Kantian empiricism nobody really knows what truth is.
Yet no teacher would tell a kid "come to class without a pencil and paper" a website to me is the same thing. And if kids can't afford pencils we figure out a way to help. Then together we shape our community
