Disagree with Karen on many things, book leveling not one. Just one of many ways racism gets reflected in curriculum...Not an overtly racist act like a literacy test to vote, but an assessment system born from systematic racism

@MsMiller_Mb I am going with is...you can use melanin to predict reading levels...Once a kid gets a label in K...they don't move. There is ZERO research to support any kind of running record sorting of kids. #satchat
I am for small group reading, book choice, and the passion and love you teach your students. But a part of my soul dies when I hear a student say, " I am a P kid, can't pick from that shelf"
