So I wrote up my struggles, code, and goals into a blog post and dumped it into #IndieWeb dev chat https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2018-12-25 and got https://chat.indieweb.org/dev/2018-12-26 for help. Admittedly I got the site working without fully understanding but shows how important networks are in terms of learning.

Did a scan of academic folks I know who publish papers on their websites and most seem to wrap entire academic citations in ..which makes sense logically as each citation as start and a stop. Has to be someone parsing citations somewhere in digital humanities..or failing

You begin with the wrong question. Don't write because you want "others to care" write about what you care about and if you push content those who have similar interest will find you. David Shanske is an encyclopedia of cool stuff! Get it out there. Set a challenge to write a 150 words a day for thirty days and go for it!
