Greg McVerryYipeeee!! Got the media queries sorted on the resume page https://jgmac1106homepage.glitch.me/resume.html....now I need to add another 3-column grid for Service and I am thinking a flexbox full of circles for my classes. #newwwyearchallenge
Greg McVerry@glitch team met with active Mozillians such as myself and other stakeholders like @mouse_org @malesser. h/t to @rgideonthomas for spearheading the migration tool development and to the @glitch engineers I met who had such deep concern for what we built.
Greg McVerryI guess for me and my teaching it would be @wordpress @glitch @mozilla @inoreader and of course all things #indieweb #edtechchat
Greg McVerryHey if you are an #edtechchat blogger (and if you are not get off Twitter and go get a website) I want to start a collection of #WhyIPost posts... Will you take the challenge? Can be any media you want but explain why you blog.
Greg McVerryThere are some privacy issues then around webmentions. Are posts set only to group gone forever? What about webmentions from ring members on public posts?
Greg McVerryI added many of my favorite chats here: https://indieweb.org/Indieweb_for_Education #edtechchat
Greg McVerryThx to @adamprocter for giving me a tour of riot.fm might just be chat experience I am looking for teaching #IndieWeb classes...means saving student data..which I didn't want to do but I could purge server after each semester. Having a bot and a wiki connected to chat room....
Greg McVerryscreencastomatic is the best $15 dollars a year I spend as a teacher #edtechchat
Greg McVerryThere is no who, knowledge doesn't live within people but across and augmented through networks. Students can never know all tech, instead teach them to recognize what they don't know, connect them to passions and people who can answer, and empower. #edtechchat
Greg McVerryHey #edtechchat busy tonight trying to finish up part of my #newwwyearchallenge to migrate my blog off of WordPress and onto an HTML website and a social stream. https://jgmac1106homepage.glitch.me
Greg McVerry@mozilla if priorities are Internet Health let's start modeling what it means to own your data. Publish posts on your own domain first, not silos like @medium which become less open. Want to syndicate, fine, but @mozilla should own it's data first.
Greg McVerryHow would this work with credibility? , You are a group of conservative journalists fed up with the lamestream media. Develop minimum set of credentials. Journalists can apply to the ring, get vetted. They get your seal of approval (webmention badge) #IndieWeb
Greg McVerryCheck these reflections out from my students this semester: https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/12/11/some-quick-quotes-on-edu106-and-the-power-of-indieweb Its the power of the domain and getting your place online We could even just give kids website with homepage, feed, photo, reply, note, article, with minimal style
Greg McVerryHere's the interesting thing about teaching and blogging. We did it because students weren't allowed online. I had students who were allowed on class blogs and forums but not AOL online. It was early aughts good internet just reaching rural Connecticut.
Greg McVerry#glittersnark and #glitterchat are cool, people in them don't like each other though #edtechchat
Greg McVerryI turn to anyone who doesn't make up words like techspiration. #edtechchat
Greg McVerryEveryone who quit a social media platform this year gets the made a real difference award from me. #edtechchat
