@Cynthinee Find the session with @gravesle and @jmenglund03 (I was supposed to be there ::sad;;) we analyzed our open policies in our syllabi. #OpenEd19 I will be joining from afar (while cooking kids tacos...that lunch looked too good). #OpenEd19
@Cynthinee Thx: presentation. Major conclusion of preliminary research: https://jgregorymcverry.com/notes/2019-10-30-11 you can click on the prev link to get to start (haven't had the chance to edit and add all the next links....can only read backwards... for now #OpenEd19
@Cynthinee Majority of my students didn't want to work in open. They begged to have all my classes in the LMS. When you have 2-3 jobs, a kid or two, and been traumatized by inequity in k12 learning, ease of use can trump #OpenPedagogy #OpenEd19
@jmenglund03 @steelwagstaff @Naomi_Salmon This may be of interest to the audience. @kimberlyhirsh was featured remote keynote at IWC New Haven and she discussed how she is using her website do her dissertation on #connectedlearning and libraries https://kimberlyhirsh.com/work/speaking/iwcnhv19-keynote/ #OpenEd19
@Cynthinee fear (and my initial research confirms) that problem much worse. Privacy isn't default on silos or open platforms. It takes technical skills. Those who may want, or worse need, to stay private may not have background knowledge to do so. #OpenEd19
@geonz Agree conferences don't need to be gigantic carbon suck holes and expensive. Let's keep #OpenPedagogy regional. We organize @IndieWebCamp across the globe and these are free. Same with #edcamp. Grab a friend, find wifi, start a movement. #OpenEd19
Everyone at #OpenEd19 should read this post: https://inessential.com/2019/10/29/you_choose personal websites, feeds built on open standards, and cool communities essential to #oer and #op3
Hey #OpenEd19 folks if at all possible when tweeting a picture from a slide deck either summarize the slide in the body of the tweet or the alt text of the img for allies who join us and use screen readers.
