In talking to @bonstewart I was using the word resilient more in terms of the web and artifacts (https://resilientwebdesign.com), Bonnie meant it more in terms of communities. Maybe #ProSocialWeb is realization that these are not different.
And I get the equity issue. Owning a domain takes privilege. https://laurakalbag.com/beyond-my-means/ .. But this is the very reason we must double our efforts. Could you imagine saying we "don't teach People of Color to write because books and pencils are expensive" #prosocialweb
@benwerd Call it ageism if you wan't but I also do not want to bank on someone making it to 80 to fill out a term. Though I think Buttigieg will end up as Governor for Indiana (probably a harder election than US Pres). Beto..seems to memeish..but I backed Edwards over Obama...what do I now. At the electoral college level Biden does make sense. Wins PA withou
This also goes back to growth measures of silos. They wanted friction free to boost numbers. Truth and writing never come without friction. It's usually a slow ride down a sandpaper slide. Writing is hard. The Web is hard. Do the work. #prosocialweb
Not sure how I feel about @mozilla's internet health report using the YOAST SEO plugin like everyone else? Is SEO good for internet health? Neutral?..dunno...Do know good content makes best SEO out there and health report is Great content
What is new is the economic drive of engagement and attention at global scale. When you use platforms with these growth goals you will get vitriol, hate, virality and the benefits @bonstewart laid out, but we Can do this on our own. #prosocialweb
@benwerd Will have to go and look into past. Buttigieg didn't rule out @phish at inauguration so there is that....yeah so refreshing to see policies from @ewarren, no politician ever has policies... any combination of Warren/Harris/Abrams makes me smile
I think people are less willing to write graffiti or burn their own house down. When you ask folks to build out their own space rather than sharecrop for silos behaviors may switch. At very least you can ignore the noise #prosocialweb
How do we build #prosocialweb? One domain at a time. Do not define success as building for the masses. That got us in this mess. All the tools exist just using W3C web standards. We do not need to invent the wheel. Webmentions for example can connect us
I can not write poetry about a dog's last days the page stares back blank llike that glossy haze in eyes once So, so Alive. No words will ever Capture how Deeply you saw Me. #smallpoems
@jgmac1106 While the focus of #prosocialweb would be on focus of practice and #PostPositive if folks do need any technical help setting up personal websites we run virtual and f2f Homebrew Website Clubs all over the globe every two weeks or simply send them my way and I can help
@bonstewart and @davecormier for me this message from @dsearls https://twitter.com/dsearls/status/1121121327195119616 resonates with #ProSocialWeb we don't need new service to replace the silos just need to embrace our social nature in places we control
@bonstewart I was thinking we just take your session from #oer19 and make it an easy blogging challenge (because #DoOO is #ProSocialWeb 3 ways you contribute to the web, is the social web good or bad, how will you bring your values to the web,....
The web is 30 years old but how many teachers in a k12 cant read and write by building websites..... Again... Answer usually close to zero... This level of ignorance is by design and not accident. Three decades of bad hiring and no firing. #prosocialweb
#edu307 this is why these book clubs are so important: https://jessicafressle.wordpress.com/2019/04/23/handbook-for-boys-book-club/ you need to demonstrate to your students how you talk about books with friends and use textual evidence.
@lonseidman Think we are seeing this in the rise of "retro games" my kids don't paly 8-bit games because they think the 80's are cool (that's like saying dinosaurs are cool, everyone knows it but nobody knows what it means) but the simple load time and gratifying awards.
I think #edu307 that fables provide such an entry point in reflectin on how character traits influence conflict. The characters are usually so static and their larger than life traits easy to identify...plus morals....we use stories to teach kids to be human
I love when the book reviews come pouring in for #edu307 https://meagansliteracylog.wordpress.com/2019/04/24/book-review-2-maybe-something-beautiful-how-art-transformed-a-neighborhood/ so awesome to see students engage with these texts, so excited to pull them together.
That is a true story as well. Kids just got NBA2k19 it was an additional 26 gigabyte download and eight hours to install....every time my son wants a new xbox he has to choose one to delete. Simply stopped buying games
