Dear #HigherEd Faculty everywhere please shorten your course titles. From all faculty members who also do all department websites and have to display those long titles on small screens usually in tables.
This looks like a hughe opportunity for @wcp http://bit.ly/2J4gCCs Here is how I would build out the paper: Find out the most active local facebook groups. Write to these audiences Education has to be right up there.
@indiescripter @manton2 @ChrisAldrich I am interested in playing with http://bit.ly/2pGvLDI for my online teaching. Currently we just use http://bit.ly/x4QMx sites pumped into Slack channels using RSS bots. #indieweb
Hey All #ctcaslchat I deactivated my facebook. I will miss the AASL Future Ready Librarians group. It was really active. I think long term we should move all our networking off private networks, or syndicate to social media from a space or professional organizations control
@chadsansing Awesome design based research. Congrats. Dream of a day of open source learning analytics that can surface these traits in different communities.
@chadsansing Honestly I say use it as a lens after Global Sprint...well intentionally design sprint communities using framework but I think its a more powerful tool to analyze the spaces of the sprints. Thinking better off measuring how well spaces broker knowledge rather than just learner
@epikalliance Also need to add: 6. Watching video games is same as playing video games (in terms of limits). 7. Only sports games for toddlers. Except for youngest. He plays Splatoon, limit his Smash Bros. for your own safety
@epikalliance Good idea that's just part of every day. My one son isn't a maker. More into Madden than Minecraft. They also inherited my utter and totally embodied hatred of losing. That's the biggest challenge as parent. You have to know you are going up against a dopamine/serotonin pump
@anildash @mouse_org I know I have been trolling you and now @FogCreek for a few years now but maybe this could be built in @glitch We need the ultimate media remix machine. Something art forward not media forward. Like zeega and popcorn. Solid attribution record maybe tied in CC search engine
@epikalliance My rules as video gaming family: 1. As parent I have right to break any of these rules. 2. Equal amount educational for video games (reading, chess apps, creative apps). 3. Slim chance of video games during M-F. 4. Shared playing time is important. Not always 1:1
In this tweet I am going to explain why meta-organizational sentences don't belong in writing First I explain you already know I am explaining, you are my reader. Then I will discuss how transitions are hard. Finally I will provide you tips like using a linked vignette.
When I discuss online reading with my cognitive friends they often want to equate what I describe as skilled readers as "short term memory" but its more than that. It's more like knowledge spasms that can be wrangled with effective tool use
With assessment we must ask, "Just because we should does it mean we can?" but with learnign analytics I think we now must ask, "Just because we can does it mean we should?"
I love when my students cite this line I wrote. Been saying it to business and writing teachers alike for a decade “analytics is the most important literacy skill that no one is teaching.”
