Greg McVerryRT @ChrisAldrich: There's current research, coding work, and thinking going on within the #IndieWeb community to extend ideas like private…
Greg McVerry#smallpoens Called my Doctor Said I'm feeling blue Son, I've gotta prescription for you Just put on some reggae Lovey dubby reggae A magical elixir Problem fixer So I hopped in the truck Windows down Dropped the bass And hit the town Feeling and Feeding Righteous beats on deserted streets Just put some reggae Lovey dubby reggae
Greg McVerry@SantosTechCoach @danaweber615 @D83Rubo @Terencewhite23 @resouders Drat no FF extension, still stuck without Brady Bunch view, not sure why feature ain't native given all we have learned about under representative voices and male discourse dominating video feeds
Greg McVerryRT @SantosTechCoach: Grid View in #GoogleMeet! Awesome Extension to see everyone's camera at once! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-meet-grid-view/bjkegbgpfgpikgkfidhcihhiflbjgfic #edtech #edtec…
Greg McVerryI will never understand why @Blackboard can't handle something like setting the contents of a div container to display on overflow...It isn't much CSS. Lack of scrolling makes gradebook useless (I amb using FF Dev 71) #highered
Greg McVerryPlease help. I paired my mouse to a laptop to help my son with an art project but now I cant pair to my iMac tried every tutorial I can find online, reset my machine... I am frozen without a cursor to move
Greg McVerry#smallpoems The most interesting thing outside your window right now that you see every day, keep thinking about parallels between COVID-19 and the gypsy moth and ash beetle that devastated forests of southeastern Connecticut: Giants of old hang tired, towering over a history past by. Branches bend and crumble under weight of knowing no spring will come now
Greg McVerry@moiragweigel @anildash Giants of old hang tired, towering over a history past by. Branches bend and crumble under weight of knowing no spring will come now dwellings of decay a future robbed hordes of gypsies descended a pandemic in the canopy killing so many now empty Mausoleums of mourning
Greg McVerry@dajbelshaw @jasongreen @johnmclear Wow, thx John, been doing WebEx all week, this all I wanted, also shared in #IndieWeb channels, our conferences been remote for long time and use a combo or zoom, etherpads, and wikis...this looks way cool, gonna link a bunch for break out rooms for students, could see conference
Greg McVerry@dajbelshaw @jasongreen This is amazing, best remote conference session tool I have ever seen, just worked, who is the team behind it?
Greg McVerry@JennBinis -You can do this without video using @remindHQ, email, telephone, think smallest screen first and work up from there, "must have a Chromebook or iPad not an option for many -Be a little critical of tech with students, This is a massive imprint for Google. discuss implications
Greg McVerry@JennBinis - The video chat is nice but good teaching = good teaching, packets != good teaching - Make sure not to assign Flash websites..Many edu apps Flash - Android is ugly step sister of tablets check compatibility of apps, demand parity from developers
Greg McVerry@JennBinis some tips I want to share - Stagger video chats, 3 kids on video with 20 kids each = no wifi at McVerrys - Encourage children not to walk around with devices or move screens...eats up bandwidth - Make tutorials for parents on Bar models, know now why CCSS Math is a trigger word
Greg McVerry@JennBinis Sounds like any classroom management discussion. Never a right answer, just hoping for the better one. Glad they are sharing and collecting feedback about online
Greg McVerry@dajbelshaw @jasongreen Has the co-op looked at Jitsy or anything? Once I had to start reading about codecs to live stream I walked away but that was quite a bit ago
Greg McVerry@dajbelshaw @jasongreen The entire web is also hanging on by shoestrings, I think evaluating anything by network performance right now is iffy, I still like zoom for UX and ease of use over them all, but integration of Meets and Hangouts for my k12 kids just been easy
Greg McVerry@clistort25 @ehanford Not going to share my teachers schedule, feel like that it is a bit icky, teachers working hard to make massive overnight adjustment. Okay if @ehanford shares once curated, what journalists do, especially with praise, but parents give space and time. We got this together!!
Greg McVerry@dajbelshaw I keep saying how much I still love Hangouts and Meet. Wish Google would add the Brady Bunch view to not privilege one speaker but the auto captioning is light years beyond everyone else.
Greg McVerry@clistort25 @ehanford The schedules are full days for legal reasons, parents are learning how many instructional minutes get wasted in school...and I am sure many of the phonics lessons taught by app not person (I am okay with that, long term tech will be better at explicit phonics instruction)
