Hey #edu307 where does making a screambot fit in children's literature and literacy" https://twitter.com/whereistanya/status/1242837348766765056 Is it a story, text structure looks redundant, #edu506 is this writing? How do we prepare 7 yr olds for this world? #literacies
#smallpoems The most interesting thing outside your window right now that you see every day, keep thinking about parallels between COVID-19 and the gypsy moth and ash beetle that devastated forests of southeastern Connecticut: Giants of old hang tired, towering over a history past by. Branches bend and crumble under weight of knowing no spring will come now
I will never understand why @Blackboard can't handle something like setting the contents of a div container to display on overflow...It isn't much CSS. Lack of scrolling makes gradebook useless (I amb using FF Dev 71) #highered
Hurts my heart: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/26/nyregion/new-york-homeless-students-coronavirus.html schools could have been ready for pandemic, were plans at the state and federal level, we could have lojng ago our most vulnerable had technology. Schools and homeless children never a priorty

Want to know the most effective and efficient way to help students succeed in your online class? Just provide a metacognitive checklist. Here is an example from my Southern Connecticut State University class an intro to #edtech https://edu106.jgregorymcverry.com/2020/learn-something-module-checklist Did you read the Maisha Winn article? Did you make a concep
Hey @scsu at 11:00 I am demoing how to support group work in online learning. I welcome any #highered or #k12 teacher to join. but DM for link to avoid videobombing.
Great piece on using this crisis to reinvent our future, time to take back our realities from a few large companies and allow stories and peoples to flourish in independant collectives: https://www.laurahilliger.com/models/lets-build-our-ideal-future/ thx @epilepticrabbit
critical look at virtual #literacies would also examine where we build networks. Bunch of us choose not to use spaces where companies allow tmicrotargeting people of color during elections, harassment of women, but access...#literacies
@morningjoe please ask any politician on today, like mine @chrismurphyct, why we can't get necessary funds to ensure all schools reopen in the bailout bill. Cash for cruise ships but no computer for kids? National travesty. #literacies
been using model, works in any age roll with, "Tell Your story, learn something, teach something, do something" anyone can take those tasks/align to any grade level expectations, and it is so much more meaningful to students #literacies
Teach a Grad Edu course to already certified working teachers? Please, look at course and see if you meetgoalswhile creating a space for the teacher to reflect and work on "teaching and learning k12 online" #digped #literacies #highered
Hey #edu106 starting up our design studio. Come and hang, work on class, ask me question, start up a card game, exchange friend codes for your Switch...Check Teams, your email, or class private feed for link...
They would address the false dichotomy that people throw on #literacies in online spaces. My Me(s) and We(s) play out in so many spaces, but they aren't bifurcated in some virtual/f2f dichotomy.
@BriannaWu Here is my new battle cry for politicians...how did schools get left out of bailout bill??? "Computers for Kids over Cash for Cruise Ships" Pandemic shines light on decades of inequality i and effects of privilege
h/t to @writinglit for posting the question in both image and text. Love seeing when folks keep twitter accessible during chats. Rarer than you think, help coach people, be blunt it's okay, #literacies
Also encourage everyone to stop saying social distancing in their online spaces. Increasing our physical distance so we must DECREASE our social distance. Online isn't alone. Create online spaces for #literacies to thrive, even if this over SMS, or email
Also find interesting people or threads and feel free to follow those and ignore the Q/A format, we don't like it in class, not the biggest fan on Twitter. #literacies and what are rules of text but toys to be broken?
