Greg McVerry@LCHS_Physics Have kids learn to build their first website which in turn becomes the place to highlight all their computer science learning. Working on this curriculum on @Glitch now: https://buildyourfirstwebsitelessonplans.glitch.me/
Greg McVerryI just added Kelly Hilton to the #edtech section of my following page at https://jgregorymcverry.com/following.html #BeYourownSocialNetwork

Greg McVerry@klbz Somethings to note. Nothing unusual in ToS. Children are not allowed on the site so do not assign it. You can not modify the guides and you can not post them to a personal or school website even if password protected. They collect no data.

Greg McVerryWow @speakervoss has to get the jerk of the month award. Literally won't allow a paraplegic to call into meetings at work because, "Its rude to ask questions on the phone" and others drive "six hours" for meeting.. Like wtf? https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2019/07/30/jny-rise-of-freelance-journalist-and
Greg McVerry@klbz Page took awhile to load but looks like a good resource. Didn't check out the novel guides but the literary device dictionary is good. Be a great #OER project. We all have novel guides. Might as well share and the dictionary be a great wiki
Greg McVerryummmm providing extra services to students of color isn't a form of segregation....calling equity efforts neo-segregation is so pitifully off the mark: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/yale-new-segregation-on-campus/
Greg McVerry@klbz The Kayak did flood but the birds aren't there. I am going with flying away and not eaten. Makes me feel better that way
Greg McVerryWhat is #poetry? https://qz.com/quartzy/1192915/in-defense-of-rupi-kaur-and-instagrams-pop-poets/ #Edu407Sum19
Greg McVerry@jny Rise of freelance journalist and the demise of many publications means journalist should be their own personal archivist. Can't rely on publishers, plus I could follow an author across different publications. Very few pubs have author feeds.
Greg McVerryPlus @jny who is to say the Galley itself will be around forever? At least journalist who owned their content from the outset would not have to worry about backing it up or archiving it.
Greg McVerryWhat would happen if we took McLuhan's tetrad of media effects but replaced the word "medium" with #edtech? Me thinks it might make a good lens for critical digital pedagogy #digped
Greg McVerryI just added Divya to the "bloggers I like section" of my following page at https://jgregorymcverry.com/following.html #BeYourownSocialNetwork
Greg McVerry@telliowkuwp outside of our little education world the commenting on a retweet has been used for dunking. A term I just learned this year. https://indieweb.org/dunking
Greg McVerry@mathewi We should circle back around to adding webmention support to Galley so journalist can contribute to the site by logging in or by blogging from their own Domain. Encourage more journalist to own their space online.
Greg McVerryMost importantly I consider it a good model for society and I like my journalists with a little bit of civic duty...and a scruffy skepticism....but that is more my love for the movie Fletch and other bad stereotypes
