Totally shocked @ventilla has realized reading a few books by Robinson and research reports from Gates Foundation doesn't translate into building amazing schools overnight.
Look at @facebook criticisms: https://indieweb.org/Facebook#Criticism If you' re a campus claiming #equity and #socialjustice banners have no place as a university on facebook and instagram. You're using a platform that promotes hate because you need access to "markets"
the world there are only various kinds of things we talk about class or a property many of which are linked defined A found poem from http://xmlns.com/foaf/spec/ might have to make a genre of writing poems from overly complicated documentation.
The hubris is galling. As if all us educators sat lazily on sidelines as communities and schools crumbled? Don't Ya think if just plopping kids in front of machine for testing would have saved schools we would have thought of that long before computers...
@ferkungamaboobo @eduquinn @jmacdotorg Looking at the calendar how does Feb 7th or 8th look for people? Just need a coffee shop or pub and wifi connection for #IndieWeb MeetUp #PVD
@danicotillas @skotperez @hulyaertas @matteodic et al at #digitautonomy In fact almost everyone ignores Google misguided directions for metadata and believe semantic HTML is better for the global south rather than complicated proprietary or FOSS frameworks.
@DeahHegedus wants us to take risks moving programs fully online. When I got here had to beg to teach an online. Was allowed hybrid. People thought you can't teach literacy in online learning. I then got a grant to work on digital teaching and learning MA degree. Proposal just sat going nowhere.
I use WordPress.com with my students to introduce them to the web and #openpedagogy but this year I added an amazing feature that makes tracing knowledge growth and keep track of progress super easy. I do not need some expensive data analytics platform or have to use tools in some LMS every student hates. Instead, I use HTML. You may have heard of it before.
Anyone who claims @realdonaldtrump wall ain't built on hate and racism needs head examined. Here is a great primer: https://imgur.com/gallery/c6W5nrb h/t @dajbelshaw
@ThinkPrivacyIO Great post on social media alternatives. I am happy that webmentions and new social readers are going to allow me to create my social network from my own website. opensource.com should do a round up post on what is new in #IndieWeb
@danicotillas @danicotillas @skotperez @hulyaertas @matteodicl et al at #digitautonomy Stop by http://indieweb.org/Chat anytime to learn about #IndieWeb We need to update sponsors. We have no central organization. All event organizers find their own sponsors
@Medium was the startup that was open enough. You could map to your own domain, they used open APIs. They got the web, but funny thing when you take lots of money people expect lots of money back. I pulled away when I knew the math wasn't sustainable
Another faculty member brings up that we need to match students to the modality that best matches them. Many who take online may not be built for online.. We could straight crush hybrid and 6th year programs in the School of Ed.
@tjarko you connected with @frankmeeuwsen who has forgotten more than I know but I forgot to tag you in this reply: https://twitter.com/jgmac1106/status/1090607910923706374
Not sure the content matches the headline of @Goigle killing the url, I am all for some regex and character matching for url warnings in browser but I HATE the way Apple and Safari obfuscate urls. I don't want that.
@aaranged plus over 1.4 million webmentions sent being powered by microformats as well, and if you count all of the Mastodon users (since every instance includes mf2) the number of use cases seems to be at a high point and growing and not a low point.
@producedbytobi Same thing that authors now have to do, give the product away for free or slim margins and make your money with your boot on. Worked for bands like Grateful Dead and Phish for decades. Free music, and money on tix and merch
Plus organizing @IndieWebCamp New Haven same weekend. Will have so co-sessions and a#femhack participant invited to everything. We will still leave private spaces for #femhack teams and participants for work and reflection. #nhv #edtechchat #ctedu #cs4all
