#edu307 this is why these book clubs are so important: https://jessicafressle.wordpress.com/2019/04/23/handbook-for-boys-book-club/ you need to demonstrate to your students how you talk about books with friends and use textual evidence.
@lonseidman Think we are seeing this in the rise of "retro games" my kids don't paly 8-bit games because they think the 80's are cool (that's like saying dinosaurs are cool, everyone knows it but nobody knows what it means) but the simple load time and gratifying awards.
I think #edu307 that fables provide such an entry point in reflectin on how character traits influence conflict. The characters are usually so static and their larger than life traits easy to identify...plus morals....we use stories to teach kids to be human
I love when the book reviews come pouring in for #edu307 https://meagansliteracylog.wordpress.com/2019/04/24/book-review-2-maybe-something-beautiful-how-art-transformed-a-neighborhood/ so awesome to see students engage with these texts, so excited to pull them together.
That is a true story as well. Kids just got NBA2k19 it was an additional 26 gigabyte download and eight hours to install....every time my son wants a new xbox he has to choose one to delete. Simply stopped buying games

Dang it @bonstewart if folks keep liking/sharing post about #prosocialweb community call or blog challenge we might actually have to do one. Seriously though the tools exist. For me it is a matter of access and web literacy. #literacies always about power

Literacy always been about power and reading a tool to both take and give. then a bunch of psychologist looked into reading brought in garbage with us today from Kantian humanism, positivism, and other crap that gets education in the way of learning Then the computer u
@bonstewart Sounds good, looking forward to the first #prosocialweb community call or blogging challenge. Best way to advocate for #prosocialweb is be the #prosocialweb
You know @bonstewart if you come out to the @IndieWebCamp Summit you might get a chance to hang with the organizer of the biggest David Bowie bike parade in the world
@bonstewart this is such a wonderful piece. Going to bookmark and really dive deep. I think Antigonish worked because it was a fiercely local response to finding a place in global world. #ProSocialWeb will be no different. We need to root efforts in localisation more than decentralization.
#edu407 the academic vocabulary badges were just published. http://edu407.jgregorymcverry.com/badges/academicvocabulary.html a few of you got a private comment or an email explaining revisions needed to meet criteria. This is to be expected. Learning is hard. Listen to the podcast for #literacies tips
@GhsInstruction Then teach content. Knowledge is comprehension in the content areas, disciplinary #literacies do not fit nicely into a commercial basal program #nctevillage
