I did all kind of customization to my WordPress site https://archive.jgregorymcverry.com/ WordPress #IndieWeb works so well but for me it came down to governance. I have no desire to contribute to open source projects that use a benevolent dictator for life model
@nitinthewiz Touching nothing and getting turnkey would be @microdotblog, $5 a month and off to the races, plus has wonderful community. If you ever do want to go deeper you can, but there is never a need to pop the hood.
@OnlineCrsLady Looks like a bunch of #OER #DoOO #Openpedagogy folks signing up for @IndieWebCamp New Haven as remote attendees are you around 3/30-3/31 already so many cool session ideas!!
@nitinthewiz Then it would be SemPress out of the box for you. All the default post types work. You can choose or not choose to use post-kind plugins. Your current theme probably a little out of date and remember if using and #IndieWeb theme don't use the microformats plugin
When biggest search engine in world tells publishers, "Ooops we forgot to tell you next page and last page....yeah that don't work" https://searchengineland.com/google-apologizes-for-relnext-prev-mixup-314494?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed-main Google apologizes for rel=next/prev mixup Don't write for search instead search for answer
@nitinthewiz This is https://david.shanske.com entire philosophy of using the taxonomies versos the custom post types. Post types are them specific you will lose them if you switch. The post kinds use taxonomies more resilient.
Then on hack day we will keep the stream off in the main room so people can work quietly but set up continuous video rooms in two other rooms if people onsite need or want to collaborate with someone remote. #IndieWeb
@iamjessklein if you know of any channels to send a call out we are looking for contributors who know wikimedia. Help with adding extensions and stuff, we can learn but we would rather grow the network if you know of folks who want to get involved in @wikipedia #oer
In studies of #openpedagogy it's what https://wiobyrne.com (not sure if he coind it) calls gLOCAL you need a global movement with strong local organizations generating the energy. Long term if you get involved @oer_cameroon can host your own Homebrew Website Club.
@scott_gruber We are getting a lot of remote interest. I will write up and record a bit of a demo on Monday but we will have a stream for the keynote, two way for remote intros, then each session room will have two way video chat, every session has an etherpad, #IndieWeb
I can create your organization one site on @goifnetwork if you want to test @withknown between now and next Homebrew Website club. If you can secure the funding for shared hosting and a Domain (around $200 US) let me know and we can start build out @oer_cameroon
Not engaging in what is right because it isn't what masses do makes sure there is a 0% chance of change. Doing what is right as a model for the masses increases the probability by n+1. Small is better than zero. Small can add up to masses. n + 0 equals same.
@GereonKalkuhl Best part our approach is tool/CMS agnostic and focuses on inter operable building blocks. Some basic #IndieWeb tools could unite so many #OER communities
@OnlineCrsLady We are woefully behind schedule and will not make the goal of a 5/1 first issue but trying to create a journal free of publishers and organization pressure https://samizdat.jgregorymcverry.com
@nitinthewiz yep, Known site, bumped between WordPress+Known and just WordPress decided on few static pages and keeping Known for my social stream because it just works, Plus bunch of still actively developing. @benwerd and @mapkyca launched open collective,
