Forget the fancy commercials. Do not let teachers build websites on @wix "Your Wix site and all of its content is hosted exclusively on Wix's servers, and cannot be exported elsewhere." That is literally the opposite of how HTML and the web works #edtechchat #edchat
@ConcentricSky Nate thinks they would be easy to port to #OpenBadges spec for people who want but was looking for way to badge from my domain after last 5-7 years of trying this and that, plus its really for #IndieWeb community and they have built in tools I can use
#edu307 I enjoy what you did putting the images together. What does it say when we read images when online and offline are separate? One on top of the other or one bigger than the next? How we use images affects meaning and how well we use images determines our effectiveness at making meaning.
In #edu307, an online, writing intensive class I teach, I have to measure student dispositions, future educators.. We are using an assessment provided by TaskStream. It is a multiple domain assessment, with each domain consisting of a single item that we then rate on an ordinal scale...to which accreditation boards then treat as numerical data. That being sa
#edu307 why do we always use a tree as a metaphor for knowledge? Adam and Eve, tattoos, to bonsai traditions. Where did it begin? Why trees? Fun Friday questions.
How about a four-week update on your writing goals. Has blogging helped? Been playing with sentence variety a bit? Some long? Others chosen for their brevity with the exact number of words necessary? Think on in it or blog about it. Your choice, you data. #edu307
So four weeks in what do you think is the need and worry for perfection getting in the way of your learning? Are you finding ways to harness your attention to detail? Reflect on the four-week mark of your goals, to your self, in a private post, or on your blog. Up to you #edu307
So in trying to continue my work on credentialing and #IndieWeb I made a badge isssuing site for one of my classes: https://edu307.glitch.me/badges/literacyimage.html Need to style it a bit more, and not everyone is accepting webmentions yet but we will get there #Openbadges #edtechchat
@fourtonfish if you can tell why grid area gets collapsed let me know. think it's way page i being built by t node.js app, like I said nested grids work...but div soup...will try flexbox tomorrow..but two flexboxes feels like cheating doing 2-D and should use grid
soon as I define grid, notes become part of one grid area can't style them alone. Was able to nest grid but end up with waaay too many divs for simple note. May drop grid and try two flexboxes, one for author and datepublished and one for content, welcome ideas #IndieWeb
Nice job defining the key terms. I may have tried to include a few examples from pop culture and a few from a piece of reading as well. Providing models helps.
Good lesson in designing images for learning @HolleKarin's post about note taking: https://twitter.com/HolleKarin/status/1098589960154820608 Been thinking about how color and images can be used to surface patterns in the visual stories we tell for understanding. #edu305 Edu407
Today I am focusing on throwing a CSS Grid on the page for styling and if time figure out how to add a bit of mysqlLite to store data in the console...
how far I made it styling #IndieWeb guestbook, https://indieweb-guestbook.glitch.me and the link if you want to contribute to the project: https://glitch.com/edit/#!/join/b76e59a2-de84-4ffe-a2f9-e4bff5216973 still some work to do on styling tomorrow
@mhawksey Got webmentions with Bridgy by adding t microformats to @blogger classical template. Anyone can use blogger now and play on the majority of #IndieWeb tools. Adding a micropub endpointhttps://indieweb.org/Micropub and websub https://indieweb.org/WebSub Do you think it could be done?
If you are an educator and you are now trapped in the @wix silo unable to take your website elsewhere find an #IndieWeb friend to help you rebuild your site. Websites get written in HTML and you should be able to take them anywhere. What @wix is doing is bad for web
@Tk20Solutions Some thoughts on how I am using your new disposition measure in an online teaching class: https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2019/02/22/thinking-about-microformats-and-tracking-teacher-dispositions and we blogging as reflective practice great tool for pre-service teachers (gets devy so feel free to share with engineer team)
