@AldenBauers With metaphor "He addressed the ball, his eyes fixed on the cue, but his gaze interrogating my prerogatives, wondering what angle I carried my pocket " #writingcommunity
When I think about how many full ride community scholarships could be covered by cost of some one night R1 parties alone makes me want to scream. Nothing like living life of luxury to discuss the role of poverty in schools. #rogueaera
@sarahfrier Link tax always fails. Google will pull Australian papers from Google News...traffic w plummet, publishers come crawling back. Forcing people to pay to link to things on the web is bad for the web and bad for journalism
@Perednia Gonna have kids of all ages writing reviews. If isn't against your schools AUP would love to have your kinders write reviews of what you read. We can do it for temporal rooms, setting and plot, or just my favorite plot.
Usually smartest kind of editor #clmooc crew keeps aprivate writing space for authors to ge feedback and revise drafts. Site run by by Geoffrey Gevault: https://geoffreygevalt.com/ #writingcommunity
@anterobot Does #rogueaera mean let's reject inequity reinforcing carbon sink hole of academic conferences built on false scarcity of knowledge and rethink how we let our work get exploited by taking ownership of research conferences?
Ohh yes social presence so key!!! Just wanted to share an option that didn't require you to be on camera. I am trying to keep track of some read alouds here: https://www.childrensliteraturewiki.jgregorymcverry.com/doku.php?id=find_books
@debbaff Been doing faculty trainings last few weeks. Surprises me how many people use them as a privacy background, I don't enjoy them, think they eat up bandwidth and the backgrounds don't work equally on different skin tones
@kortneysherbine Fallback, "look at the active reading strategies I used when reading the book. Comapre these to how you take notes, how do we scaffold this kind of thinking for students"
Hey #writingcommunity I published today's #poetry "Diner" on my microcast, plus some poems I missed last week, with the power outage: https://jgregorymcverry.com/mypoetry#audiopoems follow on RSS or @pocketcast https://pca.st/8suh4x3o #clmooc
Here is the second show: https://jgregorymcverry.com/mypoetry#GlokalYokel all the planning and teaching materials here: http://longthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/doku.php?id=glokal_yokels_episode_two please share with teachers of all ages #edtechchat #elachat #edu307 #edu506 #literacies.
@SR_Toliver I always wanted to get https://samizdat.jgregorymcverry.com up and running for this very kind of work #rogueaera Can't lie, first thing I did once tenure was stop going to research conferences that were not 100% Open Source
@Perednia You can do a pencast. Stack your phone on a pile of books to make a "doc camera" and then shoot the pages of the text as you read. Allows interrogation text and we know for younger students the benefits of finger tracking.
