Greg McVerryRT @taravancil: Maybe you've heard @pfrazee or I talk about a hypothetical p2p Twitter clone "Fritter"... Well, here it is! We built it as…
Greg McVerry@toolness not but @beakerbrowser looks amazing. I can't wait to play.
Greg McVerry@cathieleblanc #indieweb stuff is getting really cool. Try the plug-ins on your blog. Trying out other tools micro.blog and thinking about all these new readers and what the reader/headless lms would look like. Ton of cool writing and now reading solutions emerging. No video or videochat solution that I see as viable yet. That will always be key tool in lear
Greg McVerryreading about hopscotch made me think aback to all the fun conversations I had with @toolness after @mozilla x-ray goggle launched thinking about what if @firefox was the ultimate remix browser
Greg McVerry@Ebonyteach I have been documenting this digitally for some time but we need a full fledge citizen digital photo-ethnogpahy on this. The major chains in the burbs welcome and encourage loitering and provide wifi, The same chains in the cities prosecute loitering and offer no wifi
Greg McVerry@ChrisAldrich It is also, I think, about making machine learning more accessible to teachers and academics long term. So in my syllabus for example I have objectives: http://edu307syllabus.networkedlearningcollaborative.com/ what if the meta data that I build into those could be connected to tags I put on replies to students? I could see these being used in
Greg McVerry@ChrisAldrich Yeah I am at a purely philosophical use case thinkery stage right now. There are tools that repositories use that import data. They must be assigning metadata to fields. I am thinking strictly in terms of @altmetric stuff for now and also thinking about building interlocked communities of open scholars in the future. Is this a use case? Or too
Greg McVerryThis is what I am exploring. For academics in our spaces whose #GoOpen, #oer, #digped, #DOO, philosophies align with #indieweb principles would the tools like MicroPub and MicroSub and standards like webmentions not only make tracking the spread of our stuff, but more importantly encouraging the spread and spirit, without recreating another silo. Regardless
Greg McVerryThis is what I meant when I was discussing memes and images on the #indieweb chat yesterday. We need pathways on to the web for creatives. Read every report about youth (US centric atleast). They want to to be the next Instagram and YouTube star not the next blogger. I remember talking to @toolness when he first launched x-ray goggles about what a remixable
Greg McVerry@actualham Sure here you go. Just let me know the style you want. https://thimbleprojects.org/jgmac1106/462422/
Greg McVerry@actualham and @cathieleblanc This discussion actually started as I am trying to think about the easiest way to make my workflow around my #oer materials while also building in the metadata to make it both more remixable and trackable across the web for others to use. I am at the limits of my knowledge so it's a fun place to be.
Greg McVerry@actualham @cathieleblanc You know any friend of yours is a friend of mine...and all of our friends are the folks of the Open Web (okay not all but hyperbole is no problem when mission driven).
Greg McVerry@cathieleblanc Here you can see @ottonomy's tweets as comments back on my site: http://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/04/19/ottonomy-hey-nate-maybe-you-can-point-me-in-right#comments
Greg McVerry@cathieleblanc YI agree you are dead on. One cool thing, I am not just publishing on Twitter. I am publishing on my own site and using #indieweb powered tools to syndicate this post to Twitter. Get the critical mass problem...but we are the masses
Greg McVerry@ottonomy Yes that is my ultimate goal. I asked around at #oer18 it looks like a group met around 2013 and wrote some standards around metadata. Looked at @moodle metadata standards as well. I have my repos up now, but not publishing to gh-pages yet. Maybe I should. My ultimate goal is to have one file for each module and not have to update my syllabus and c
Greg McVerry@ottonomy Hey Nate. Maybe you can point me in right direction. Rebuilding all my course repos but wondering about how others are thinking about metadata. I am trying to stay as plain html as possible but want to be forward thinking in tracking how material gets shared and remixed and making sure I have community building blocks set up.
Greg McVerryI wonder if there is an #indieweb solution to also syndication to SMS messages. I can't serve the populations I work with without thinking about also having a text message service.
Greg McVerryI didn't expect #flyers to go deep this year. I hope but do not expect but to see another game without Couturier just reminds me of last year's first round ejection. 3-1. Can we do this? We have done it 3-0 against Bruins. ...Need Couturier or we might as well just give away the PP goals.
