No. So far it was one message from Phil posted in IRC. We should take this to #knownchat for others to see. I always find 4 gmt to be most amicable as it is 12 edt, and 9 pdt, almost impossible for Pacific contributors. Be a good problem to solve if folks get involved.
@CharlesGedeon We have guides on getting started https://indieweb.org/Getting_Started comes down to your desires and goals. Skills can be learned. If you want turn key everything just works look to @microdotblog, then its use a CMS like WordPress, Drupal, Known, or build a CMS
@mapkyca It could we were talking in #knownchat in IRC about how it could help to triage issues, test plugins, develop roadmap, promote collective and attract users and developers.
@ChrisAldrich Wow Chris what a great list. You should get around to adding them to our #femedtech superstar trading card set: https://glitch.com/~opendefenderfolks I will add to this ongoign list. There are so many amazing women playing in the edtech space.
@johanbove ooh badges been around since about 2011 (way longer if you coutn video games, longer if you count scouts) when we began the work with @mozilla and #openbadges This is just a way to own your credentials from your own domain.
Using a CMS like Known, Drupal, WordPress, Kirby etc provides you with greater flexibility but will require some background knowledge and time. Choose this option if you want to tinker and play. The build your own CMS route requires serious skill and ton of time.
Added this morning videos to the archive. May end up having to to do an autoetnography on my own learning with @getkirby when I am done: https://archive.org/details/tryingtobuildbloggingtemplate cc @bali-maha #digped #literacies good data sources FYI
The best part about setting a timezone on a website on the East Coast is knowing every Boston Red Sox fan site has to have their timezone set to New York...ha ha ha
Hey @trentmkays love the way your WordPress site works. If you ever want to try and add the #IndieWeb building blocks to join the modern social web let me know. Would love to work with you on updating your site or theme
All of these approaches are designed to help the user and not a corporation. Take @microdotblog, works flawlessly and you never have to touch code, but if that is a hobby or passion you can use the platform to grow as you customize features and layouts.
@magicroundabout This is great!!I have been searching and searchign for good PHP courses. Tried LinkedIn but the basics were out of date and I need a community. Settled on just hacking with @getkirby as their documentation seemed better than any course
@mapkyca As is always the case with community run all volunteer open source movements. Coding to eat always beats out coding to save the world. Like most community calls show up when you can and we look for the magical timezone that doesn't exist.
@mapkyca Good to know. Did you see Phil's note about establishing biweekly community calls amongst the collective? You down? I will keep looking and applying for grants to keep the lights on as well.
For just you to see? yes most CMS enable that, more excitingly people getting really close on private posts between friends check: https://indieweb.org/private_posts#IndieWeb_Examples I tried it yesterday I log in to someone's post with my domain and if I am authorized I get to read it
