@heathermlister If you are a WordPress blogger I am recruiting teachers for "think aloud" studies as you install #indieweb plugins. Will contact you about August course. We need to build the web our students deserve.
@nathan_stevens Worse than that. It is indicative of tech being used to SHOWCASE what was learned rather than using tech to learn or learning tech. Why I push back when people say "elevate" lessons. Forget that. Learning to read and write the web is a lofty goal already.
Running course this summer (probably August) for teacher who want to take their blog to the #indieweb, learn how to use GitHub, and start remixing and sharing our coursework. No HTML knowledge required. You will learn DM to be added to list. #edtechchat https://twitter.com/jgmac1106/status/996190998190473216
@lesliefarooq @GregBaby I think we can make a distinction between production-based learning and content construction. You can learn in production based way without always making so prezi. #edtechchat
Sad to see @malexandrou Ultimate Category Excluder plug-in is no longer supported. Thanks for the work you did. Many in the #indieweb WordPress community relied on the plug-in. If others have a favorite category excluder plugin I welcome recommendations.
Today's goal in #indieweb is take my syllabus, originally built on a Skeleton framework and update it to CSS grid. May try to do a sticky navigation at the top rather than a horizontal nav menu in each section. CSS grid isn't bad. See how day two of learning goes
Oops here is syllabus: #indieweb, http://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/05/15/todays-goal-in-indieweb-is-take-my-syllabus-originally-built will end up with a lot of h-event entries in the task list.
@MusingsOnEdTech Here is a synthesis piece I did after #walkmyworld to show new ways of creating while being a critical consumer. https://walkmyworld.jgregorymcverry.com #edtechchat
@Media_Barber You might want to check that. I wonder if privacy policy is different I read: https://prezi.com/terms-of-use/#toc4#edtechchat I don't use it bc I like html slidedecks or gSlides in a pinch. Plus I hate throwing up.
Ask your self are you modeling the practices we want to see in students? Do you practice critical reflection about learning on your blog? Do you network with people on networks not owned by corporate adtech firms. I tweet from a domain I own. https://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com
@KristenSevinsky Last thing I want is kids using tech the way see most adults using tech in schools. #edtechchat https://twitter.com/KristenSevinsky/status/996184621208559616
