Dear #highered faculty stop pretending we can move our class online and everyone will just adapt. We will do everything so students succeed but do not blame students for " "not showing up."
@geonz Our entire town economy is hospitality and tourism...being in New England it is seasonal. My partner got laid off the day to return from winter seasonal lay off....still we are way more fortunate than most.
Grandfather taught since time eternal a McVerry been fighting for the greater good, a ríastrad towards justice and equality. Teaching no different. Doing what right is easy, knowing what is right, hard.
@geonz Funny thing...don't see it as awful. Love the proactive social distancing. We have two exemplar texts China and Italy....social distancing works to mitigate. Hold dearly to greater good in face of our financial struggle ahead
@remindhq I have believed in SMS teaching as an equity issue since replicating the iReady study as part of #GearUpWorks. I will volunteer to help any district adapt their pedagogy or develop #CCSS by SMS curriculum.
love McCluhan as much as rest but pedagogy supersedes medium or mode. I am rare breed who think fundamentals of good teaching haven't changed in human existence. Difference now we must teach networks to teach people to teach networks
Many will have kids at home. They work in the service industry. They will be laid off (both happened to us today). You know what doesn't matter mush when worried about food and rent, your discussion boards. Give space and time. And love
I am also at advantage over than most. I am a McVerry, as long as you live life based on principles of good it will work out. Somebody didn't just kiss the Blarney stone, they made sweet love to it (can tell by the 2.5 inch indentation)
I apologize did not release an #instructionaldesign video on how to move #online today. My partner got laid off, my kids' school closed for weeks, fear just stole too much creativity. Will be back by tomorrow...but I am scared #literacies
In understanding our own and others' stories, what do we foreground, emphasize, leave out? What is the most salient to us, and what misses our attention completely? -Marjorie Orellana Faulstich #quote
Message matters more than mode. Pedagogy outperforms presentation, For all k12 schools going online in urban or rural areas facing equity issues we can teach effectively through email or SMS using @remindhq #edchat #edtechchat #covid19
