@ken_bauer @OnlineCrsLady check this out for a new form of gradebook http://edu407.jgregorymcverry.com/badges.html If students do not earn badge get email or comment explaining revisions to make. After spring break students will apply for webmention badges and explain how they met criteria.
@dogtrax sorry to be pessimistic on #web30, a day to celebrate, but 30 years?? 30 years, folks debate utility/need to learn and teach how to read/write the web. It isn't just a failure of hiring and leadership. More a national crisis, no way #cs4all possible
Wow, thx https://www.marcus-povey.co.uk I have updated by @withknown install using @reclaimhosting easy to use SSH access to add composer and then pushed the latest update, I love people who love open source

@mattl , Getting better, but mainly we defined #web30 as an #edtech issue and not #literacies problem. Not as how we read and write but as "something that special teacher and the librarian covers when I am on break...oh we cut the librarian from the budget?"
@jjdelc Best thing we can do #ask30. Be a model from our own websites and then help out a friend make their own. We have tutorials for @microdotblog (which just works) wordpress.org @Known and even some basics for @Blogger @Wordpress on the Getting Started page https://indieweb.org/Getting_Started#Tutorials
The dire warnings TBL has shared for #web30 have as much fault in our schools as they do in vulture capitalism and the data surveillance these large returns require. Something like 70% of all fake news comes from 10 web properties and facebook owns four of them....
Hey #edu407updates the webmention badges for module III where you had to argue for or against leveled books is now live. If your badge was not issued you got feedback on how to meet the criteria if you choose to revise: http://edu407.jgregorymcverry.com/badges/levelingbooks.html #OpenBadges
A domain's of one's own is a better approach to diversity and inclusion rather than this mess we call #web30, but we need to double down on basic web literacy skills in our communities of colors, invest in local leaders and knowledge, preserve deep historic roots
I have a lot of thoughts about this, to be production based, reflection driven, and primarily from the students blog, at same time I want to leverage existing parsers to surfcae patterns I can not, would love to hop on a call https://github.com/kenwbauer/criticalgradebook
@ken_bauer yeah bigger for me as well, mixes in machine learning HTML parsers, bots and badges... Have super fun ideas for a teacher dashboard (grade book dated) and keepsl going for large federal grants to build it.
This gets compounded by systemic racism that has always impacted #literacies of children of color. parts of the web do make it easier to capture local knowledge and culture but often this network effect is so fragile, data disappears, hate flares #web30
I mean I use a six factor diceware password. It would take forever and a day to crack. The stupid 60 day password @scsu makes us go through increases the chances of social engineering, the real threat to password security. PASSWORD CHANGES MAKE YOU LESS NOT MORE SECURE.
The first birthday of #web30 was done in partnership with #HigherEd. I want the same for #web31, community has always been the curriculum. Let's model and teach basic web literacy and anchor the cornerstone of the local web in our schools, libraries and local news.
Hey #edu407 students if you need to revise your work on leveled reading in order to earn the module badge here is a good model from class: https://theclassroomconnection.wordpress.com/2019/02/21/opinion-on-leveled-reading/ notice the multiple paragraphs and evidence from the reading.
30 years into the web @dogtrax and teachers will be regaling #web30 all over Twitter because they do not have the fundamental knowledge to own their data in a space they control. Educators should celebrate #web30 on the web not on social media silos
Isn't about "fake news" or "memes" or "viral" when you starve children of tools for literacy you should not be surprised when they grow up illiterate (though data shows its our parents doing most of the spreading), we never gave tools to read and write web #web30
