@jackjamieson came to conclusion last #ds106 and #IndieWeb had same goal: getting people on their own sites. #IndieWeb using their generations model focused on the most technicalky skilled learnerstop down, #ds106 focused on gen4 and wanted to go bottom up
@Cambridgeport90 the "won't help businesses" can be an SEO trap. Only result that matter IMO good content and community. I think being your own website essential to business. Don't let Facebook algorithm destroy you. Webmentions could prove powerful.
May think about skipping #lra18 for the first time this year. Palm Springs and flight to Cali just so damn expensive. Plus I want to commit to Open Professional orgs...@ncte far from that filter as well.
Wrapped up today's #IndieWeb goal, I think I added a correct h-entry for my article, added an XML file for RSS feeds, and used some basic CSS Grid to style the article template. https://jgmac1106homepage.glitch.me/articletemplate.html and https://jgmac1106homepage.glitch.me/feed.xml
@Cambridgeport90 Depends on your goal. For many of us it is a people first web driven from your own Domain rather than corporate silo. @microdotblog is turnkey, Known is easy, WordPress...is...WordPress...then super geekier solutions beyond that.
@downes citing Hilton discusses how a single sentence can be distributed across 100k neurons. Let's go bigger. Does knowledge live in the brain? I did not have this sentence until I watched the video.
That was supposed to be makes* it knowledge.. Kids woke up. Network now harder to traverse? Did my network just get dumber as this node needs to now give em something to nibble on? #el30
In E-learning 3.0 @Downes says our collective task is to answer, "what makes it knowledge" Then goes on to give examples of semantic web and efforts to place value judgments on knowledge. I think that is different #el30
Not sure we need a web 3.0 maybe we took wrong lesson from web 2.0 when we said "now no one needs to know HTML to get online" and this lead to centralized platform. Maybe we should have said, "Maybe now it's time to teach everyone HTML" #el30
The concept of the shape of stories as always being linear is a very Western humanistic view of stories... Not all cultures use linear narratives and ai can take a story and look at it from multiple perspectives. #el30
I won't be at #ncte18. I thought I was going to https://,credcon but there was some miscommunication about available travel support. Wishing I planned on ncte seems to be be most forward thinking with #literacies
@downes "platforms are purveyors of truth but platforms get less trusted over time. Because 1 multiple platforms and 2 the platforms as centralized get manipulated by bad actors" Maybe then the network itself isn't knowledge but a delivery system. #el30
Thinking about knowledge as a graph. #el30 In social analysis strength of connection represents authority? Is same true of knowledge? The more connections the truthier something is.
