Even given that Karma resets each year. We try to recognize contributions and people in the community now. Recognize action and not just history. Often open source contribution a good of an indicator of privilege as zip code. If you contribute the community knows
Sometimes with #highered approach to #oer I feel like: "I guess it's the fact that you can't be artistic Intricate raps, becomin' so simplistic I gotta strong mind it doesn't have to be spoon-fed And I can read what doesn't have to be read" Time to "Pop the Weasel" #oer19
Here is the draft of the #open pedagogy book @jackajamieson @wiobyrn and I are working on: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1UFJMhF4F94zTG6kjKwj0gIh-3XmG60vIzWPWUFDmKaU #oer19
Hey #edu307 #edu407 the new modules will be up at dinner time tonight. Found a tick on my butt, not exactly something you can ask a colleague to move. Thought I would wait it out but having a bug o my but sucking my blood is bugging me.
@MaryChayko You already did. I tweet from my own site, That link is a permalink to the original post...happy to send you any of my writing if you are having trouble sleeping
@ghenrick I hear you. At least at conferences padlet optional allows anonymous. In my dream #oer19 folks be publishing ideas on their own website and we would syndicate to padlet like place. This is doable if teachers embrace being learners and up web literacy
@philosopher1978 Can advocacy networks be built or do they have to be encouraged and connected? Coming to believe we have to build out the person before the network, #oer19
https://marychayko.com/ @MaryChayko Didn't realize you were in NJ. Should get together some time. Have so many good friends in literacy department there, plus all the #IndieWeb events we run in NYC. Kids are connected, Lets help em be critical and collaborative
Plus with the work @jimgroom @cogdog @timmyboy and @reclaimhosting around #DoOO and teaching this way for for over a dozen years believe in my heart of hearts something #oer19 special when you give someone (and it takes) a place online
Think places like #IndieWeb #oer19 #rhizo15 #clmooc #walkmyworld and #ds106 provide a model, we don't need massive amounts of funding just fundamental focus on learner contributing knowledge in production based ways with local networks contributing to the larger goal
At same time "But. If we all turn away from the internet, who is going to be writing the story of our culture moving forward?" facebook !=internet. that is a HUGE problem. Let parents know that first. Let them know they should fight for basic web literacy in school.
@amyburvall @KateMfd @byranmmathers I think I am gonna throw out my lesson plan and make a zine with my students today. @wiobyrne and I act as discussants in a session every year on writing as male in the zine community at LRA #oer19
@moodler Yet there are plenty of places in the USA crippled by poverty and racism caused by colonialism and the slave trade. Where do these communities fit in the context of "Global South" #oer19
Too many ready to declare facebook the winner or think learning requires best UI rather than You and I. An HTML first world works for #OER19 and #OER19 must work for an HTML first world.
