Wow! Awesome Beastie Boys interviews with the book. Mad props in a way for never playing No Sleep to Brooklyn and apologizing for lyrics in songs like Girls.
@sarahhanawald For me I want to do what we always did. Give a kid a journal and invite them to share pieces they love and crafted. Something changes when you plant the seeds from your own site. Agentive writing is change for good. #edtechchat
@juliadavisEDU Your blog is pretty awesome. Post on tensions and opposites is great. Here is the link to adding webmentions to your blog I talked about during #edtechchat https://brid.gy
I am gonna give Known a try again. Ready to try something different than WordPress for #IndieWeb. Looked at Drupal, Grav, and Perch Runway, but hoping I can mane @withknown my social stream engine over time.
@raspberryberet3 Exactly I have students write reply post or comment to every assignment page where they have to link to evidence and explain how that evidence meets stated criteria. reflections drive learning make assessment easier, more effective #edtechchat
That was the commercial service Convoy. There were always open source syndication options. I chose Convoy to support @benwerd. You can update to the most stable version from GitHub and syndication works. We are trying to get a team together who can work on an ActivityPub plugin. That is above my skill level. I am trying to make a read and listen plugin using
@TechLifeWeb what is interesting based on the #IndieWeb wiki like is an official post type and bookmark is experimental but used enough it should be considered official. Strange as bookmark been around a lot longer than a like. There is history and maybe done bias against bookmark?
These are aeweome. Gonna be looking for exemplar texts!! If they are all using Blogger you should check out https://brid.gy and try webmentions. I taught with all my students making their websites talk together and it was so much fun. #edtechchat.
Still I find giving kids a place online to call their own reduces inappropriate conversation. When you own the spaced it changes the way you shape your MEs #edtechchat
I have been spending the last few months studying open learning spaces like #IndieWeb and #ds106 the best spaces make no distinction between the online and off. #edtechchat
This is such an awesome example of student blogs: http://quickthoughts.jgregorymcverry.com/2018/11/06/these-are-aeweome-gonna-be-looking-for #edtechchat
@TechLifeWeb Wow! I am happy to test. Though I do wish each post type was its own plugin. I think there is some history between like and bookmark I have seen eyes roll in a "not again" way at live events
Ursula Franklin talks about prescriptive and holistic tech. Holistic tech allows the crafter to shape the piece. Think pottery Prescriptive tech has less friction, but total control. It rots society. Give a kid a blog. Let them be artist of self #edtechchat
We talk so much of academic vocabulary and disciplinary literacies influenced by enculturation research of anthropology but we don't layer in networks enough. Most of knowledge is really deeper access to more networks in way #edtechchat
Never thought about extra knowledge/work required as gentrification metaphor. Gonna think on it as we try to on board people to web. Yet let's not forget everyone started as a renter. LiveJournal, Friendster, MySpace, Geocities. Silos die but silos give life.
