So the algorithm gets to decide whose truth counts more...which builds on top of the sanity of citation counts counting as truthiness in the first place.
@jaffathecake Probably right there most of the url mistakes I see aren't from copying from the url bar but from bad UI in different CMS publishing platforms.
Hey #ds106 #clmooc and #literacies #DoOO folks who wanted to try out all the #IndieWeb goodness of new social readers but couldn't get all the plumbing working here is tan awesome new tool.: https://mblaney.xyz/2019-11-05-I_Haza_Website_You_Can_Haz_One_Too website and reader rolled into one
You need more citations to increase chances of tenure, academia.edu makes you feel like somebody, like the phone book came or something, so folks feel obligated...ohh and there is that whole maintaining a website is a PITA thing
I am helping to coach my son's East Haddam Lego Mindstorm Team. You can not help the students design, code, or solve the task...which is great because I wouldn't realluy know how. I have concluded through my observations, as someone helping to facilitate their learning, that robotics provides a wonderful opportunity to build disciplinary literacies in STEM f
Commercial vendors want to reduce friction which in turn reduces control, agency, and knowledge. We are both correct. From a commercial perspective you design to the lowest common denominator. From a learning perspective you should for new heights

@jaffathecake Any time I teach a reading skill I hope everyone applies it correctly knowing full well they won't. Doesn't mean books should hide all the big words and complicated concepts. Reading the web should be no different. Been a tension since beginning.
#oer doesn't need more guidance and governance. It just requires doing. Simply start by sharing what you do, learn, make, and reflect on in ways others can use. Journeys start with steps not policies
The website deployment just happens, you do nothing else but start reading and writing. If you wanted to get a class sharing through webmentions and building a class social reader I could not tink of a better way. Wonderful no frills writing space
@jaffathecake I teach all my classes by having learners first begin by building websites or blogs takes a week or two just to teach how to share a url correctly to add to a feed reader...I just worry obfuscating the url will only make this problem worse.
I set one up on @reclaimhosting in a hot minute: https://ihazanothersite.jgregorymcverry.com/blog You need a domain, you paste the domain in, go to cPanel change the DNS record, and then change the TXT record, Sounds complicated but you are copying and pasting two things.
On a election day I can't think of better advice (beyond go vote) facebook owns facebook, whatsapp, and instagram, THE major fake news platforms. Now FB refuses to block political ads and allow politicians to lie in ads https://mobile.twitter.com/mantonsblog/status/1191776219571916800
Just take notes on your own blog/website - you always own them - tool hunting is productivity time waste - you can share collaborate, remix, etc #pinboard
@tjoosten No but they know the exacrt ope rate, click through rate, time on page, and any click after the click in the email from the cookies on your browser....only if people would do things like I dunno publish on their own site....
You have to love designers...this is soo much copy and thought into what boils down to, "Capitalize all the letters and change some colors" https://facebook.design/companybrand
Thing is discovery is hard...those emails surface better open rates than just being online (why folks send newsletters instead of blogging...greedy click hungry fools) and the citation rates when articles on academia are significantly higher.
Joined by Prez and Provost After intro Beena asks, "It seems P&T wants more research but we don't have time with a 12 credit load. How do we balance this with other departments who teach 9 credits" Pres joe, "Been hearing that since I got here that we focus too much on research, but frankly that is not true. The data does not show it. 100% of P&T apps approv
