#OpenEd19 No vendors, no paid keynotes, beyond offsetting travel for marginalized peoples. Keeps conference clean. When you pay for top billing you expect access. Otherwise, wouldn't spend money. Plus that much less travel and shipping..climate crisis
Systems thinking helps meat an analytical level terms of day to day with goals for myself, my students, and society as a whole we must think of taking back knowledge, taking back the web, preserving and restoring indigenous knowledge as a movement
@paulbunkham No joke I have argued (to rolled eyes and laughter) at the W3C #credweb community group that an old school web ring could be the perfect marker of trust. Inventing all these new vocabs but if folks got together and said, "you can trust us"
On another note @LibrariansReed are you at UT-Austin? My sister-in-law is in the MA pr PhD program. Not sure which. Her and my brother started up the Baby Bobby Bookmobile to deliver books around Austin.
@LibrariansReed I am going to have to disagree. I think we need to be way more subjective when it comes to our science and teaching around #OER and #OpenPedagogy. I want a movement, we may agree we do not have one, but that doesn't negate necessity.
Conferences are just one part. Academy built on an economic model of a scarcity of knowledge that helped to reinforce historical inequities. Does not work in an era of knowledge abundance. We get exploited why inequity still reinforced. #OpenEd19
Biggest web ring I help facilitate is #clmooc a wordpress site running an old plug-in...can get resource intense...but hey it works., https://clmoocring.jgregorymcverry.com/ this was my first WordPress one: https://www.wordpressindiewebring.jgregorymcverry.com/ (CSS deliberatley broken MySPace style)
Been trying to look at communities like #ds106 and #Indieweb from an Innovation Systems model where learning revolves more around agentive #apprenticeship rather than #cognitiveapprenticeship: https://jgregorymcverry.com/SyNatIndieWeb
As #OpenConPilly19 & #OpenEd19 come to close I am also reminded about recent post making round in #IndieWeb chat as needing readers as much as writers..makes me think, "Do what a teacher does, We know community is the curriculum" (or content that works too)
@LibrariansReed My apologies if I came off mansplaining or shouting, I think in threads and try to keep them connected for personal archiving purposes. I could see on Twiitter and hashtag how this could look more like I a storm than a stream.

never been to #OpenEd , #OpenEd19 but peeps roll in and out, for folks of #OER, #connectedlearning, #rhizo14, #ds106, #DoOO, #rhizo15, #mozillians, #clmooc,, #digped, @baha_mali, Freire, Douglas, Dewey, Venture Smith, education only movement that matters
The @boyscouts (time to change handle btw you know allowing girls and the gender fluid and all now) have the worst SSO experience with scoutbook and myscouting...the OAuth handshake is clunky, the UI rougher than a Piedmont trail, now I am locked out.....
My youngest son just asked, "Dad can I get a tablet so I can text you and my brothers from my blog like you guys do?" (He means webmentions) https://legomaster.jgregorymcverry.com...and either wants to join us our knows EXACTLY what to say to get what he wants..or both
