@matt_ruen here are some examples from my classes: http://edu106class.networkedlearningcollaborative.com/feeds.html and https://edu522.networkedlearningcollaborative.com/feeds.html I am actually working with an organization now to create an OER portfolio using @reclaimhosting and @withknown (powers this blog)
#EDU307 "Although we were pleased that the students were making connections, we were also happy that they built on one another’s responses, demonstrated listening behaviors, and referred back to one another’s comments" Yes! I love free reading, I love choice, but I often find little value in SSR.We had twenty minutes every day when I taught 6th grade...Much
@dogtrax #clmooc Came across "systems innovations" last night from people who take an ecological view of socio-human-technical systems and also looking at feminist view of computer human interaction theory..and of course resisting temptation to drop in CHAT diagram and call it done
I think some parents of PreK-K children enjoy getting the homework calendar that stresses some foundational skills . They want to help but need help. A little scaffolding goes a long way. #satchat
Hard to belive IndieWebCamp Online is less than a week away! We have so many people joining us this is goind to be a great conference! Eddie has been hard at work stress testing Jitsi and building out the conference sessions. Start Brainstorming Proposals Here is the session planning How to propose a session If you have an idea for a session or want help wit
I never include homework in calculation of grades. Measures behavior not competency, but when students didn't reach mastery on assessments it was easy to show parents a record of homework incompletion and have discussions of behaviors that lead to mastery. #satchat
While I agree with much of the sentiment here: https://www.waituntil8th.org/blog/2018/11/12/middle-school-misfortunes-then-and-now-one-teachers-take (thank god I went to college before cameras were ubiquitous) I feel there is a counter argument that should be made as well.
The getting started tutorials up to storage are great on @glitch but then they just stop once you build a form and a website. @glitch isn't alone, like this across we, @mozdevnet same thing....no one translates documentation into tutorial. We should work on this,
@matt_ruen If you want a full portfolio system we have used Mahara in the past and you can install that in CPanel from @reclaimhosting but just give a learner a url and watch what happens. I also think this is the most sustainable approach to #OER and #openpedagogy
@dogtrax #clmooc Wow we were just trying to think of new metaphors for the IndieWeb generations model last nighthttps://chat.indieweb.org/meta/2019-03-02#t1551491484847800 her is it: https://indieweb.org/generations doing background research now. Want to account for tool, people, community, bidrectional growth and conflict
#edu407 #edu305 #edu307 check out: https://twitter.com/sgreiner16/status/1101826001389146112 #satchat is a good way to have a cup of coffee on Saturday
Thinking cognitive apprenticeships and what we see in places using #connectedlearning like #indieweb and #ds106 you see more agentive apprenticeships. These involve both humans and networks but get driven by the learner goals in a community of shared values. #el30
You can find a bunch of ideas for Getting Started on the #IndieWeb page:https://indieweb.org/Getting_Started#Tutorials and we collect examples https://indieweb.org/Indieweb_for_Education Can combine websites and use @Hypothes_is groups for private feedback. use webmentions (public) and native comments (private)
