Webmention Badges Discussion Across Networks After #IndieWebCamp NYC Session

On Micoformts, LinkedData, Parsers and Purpose That's today, huh! I want to talk about this. Since you're busy, I'll just look at what you create at #IndieWebCamp NYC, but let me know if there's some technical gap that needs to be corrected to enable this use case. — Nate Otto (@ottonomy) September 28, 2018 I…

Sending My First Webmention Badge #OpenBadges

As part of my goals for #EDU 522 I want to create a self contained remixable #IndieWeb course template. I have long thought about using webmentions as a simple path to #openbadges. In the end a badge is an image, a few links, and some baked in metadata. So is a webmention. Just a bit…

Can we have an #IndieWeb webmentions credentialing system? #OpenBadges

Many have come to know me as an inquisitive skeptic when is comes to badging. Yes I believe we need to remediate assessment. Yet I know the introduction of measure changes learning, and always felt we used a huge system for what boils down to a dichotomous measure. You either earn a badge or you…

My Goals For #IndieWebCamp NYC: #OpenBadges Endorsement at the DNS Level

Over  last few months I have worked to create the learning tools teachers need for #OpenPedagogy on the amazing tool Glitch, a collaborative coding community. As teachers we  all teach the same courses. Yet we each exist in the silos of different LMS and allow our labor, especially adjunct and contingent faculty, to get exploited.…

Interesting discussion about the webmentions badging system occurring on LinkedIn

For businesses and employability these credentials will be linked to observable skills. It's what they value. By headless LMS I mean the web. I want students to own their domain and own their data.…
@downes I was talking to @zegnat (@martijnvdven) in  #IndieWeb dev channel. Easiest approach to webmention badges will be to use webmentions.io (on each activity page), have PHP form that generates HTML file and uses telegraph to send the mention.
@downes started to fool around with a php version of webmention badges  here: https://github.com/jgmac1106/badgemaker-prototype/tree/jgmac1106-php My thinking is one app to make the badge and another to issue as webmention badges as a micropub client when list of urls entered. Putting a parser in between each step would help. Get criteria from class and h-card from…
